Hi guys, happy Saturday. Thanks for hanging out with me. So let me just say that I struggle with writers block quite often. Just so you know, I love working on music. I usually write and record my own songs. I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. My mother started us out singing when we were very little. I’d say since I was six. I still remember my mom sitting at the piano and teaching my sisters and I, this song she wrote. We sang the background vocals. She taught us how to harmonize and hold a note.
Growing up we started a girls group. It was my two cousins and my sister and I. We performed for all family functions. We did talent shows and performances, until one day everyone realized that they didn’t want to sing anymore. Except for me, I definitely still wanted to pursue a music career, so I started working on my solo career. I did join a couple of other girl groups in my journey. I will admit that I have not achieved my goal in becoming an artist. I’m still working on it; and I don’t plan on giving up .
What I’ve been doing is trying to come up with some new material. It’s just me so I don’t usually have anyone to collaborate with. Some people might think it’s easy to write a song, but It really takes a lot of work. Thinking about what the song is about and what it should be titled. Coming up with the lyrics which would include 2 verses, a hook or chorus and the bridge or B-section. Plus you still have to come up with the melody and harmonies and vocal arrangements. It’s a lot of work and it takes a lot of precious time.
Every time I start a new song, no matter what, I tend to get writers block. I’m not sure why. Most times when this happens, I just record the parts I have and save it, then come back to the song when I have something to add. Honestly it may take me a couple of days, week or even a month before I come up with something new to add to the song. I wish, it wouldn’t take so long sometimes. What I need to do is come up with ways to help me expand my writing.
what I like to do is come up with a list of ideas that will keep me writing about the topic that I’m writing about. Sometimes I even have to write things out like I’m writing a story. It doesn’t always work out that way. Sometimes it’s best that I start with one word and draw a circle around it, then I’ll come up with some other words that I can associate with the one word in the circle. Which in turn will help me to spark a few more ideas for the writing process. I can also use this technique with any writing project I’m working on. It’s really rare that I can sit down and just write a song from beginning to end. I know their are also books you can buy to help you with your writing process.
I remember when I was dating my ex boyfriend, we took a trip to Manhattan and we walked into a bookstore and he bought two books for me. I can’t remember what both of them were called, but one of them was called successful lyric writing. I think it might be time to break out that book again. It has lots of exercises to help with your writing. So I’m asking you guys, if you love writing, what are some good tips to help with writers block? Yesterday I asked this question on my Convoz platform, are you addicted to your Snapchat filters? I live for my Snapchat filters, but as I learned yesterday when some of the men on Convoz responded to my post, they informed me that, for one they don’t use the Snapchat filters; and two it’s geared towards women. So I had to stop and think about it. A few more men replied and they all had the same answer.
In my mind I’m thinking 🤔💭 But I’ve seen men use the Snapchat filters. Then I took a minute and thought about yesterday morning, and all the Snapchat filters that were available. As I scrolled through, I noticed that it really is geared towards more women than men. Majority of the filters have these long eyelashes, makeup, and even the animal filters look girly. You always have one or two filters that are really wonky, like the ones that give you big eyes, mouth or head. I could see the men using those, but all the others ones…. yeah it’s not happening. When I try to get my husband to snap with me, he gives me the side eye, lol.
] ]]]]]]]]It never dawned on me before that those filters cater to the ladies. I guess that’s why I love them so much. All I can say is keep up the great work Snapchat; and maybe make a few more filters for the guys. But who am I kidding, that’s not going to happen. Yeah, Snapchat is totally geared towards women. Roughly 70% of Snapchat users are female. Here is a little fun fact, active Snapchatters open the app 18+ times a day. I love Snapchat, my daughter loves Snapchat and I can honestly agree that their filters are definitely geared towards women. Just take a look at a few of my Snaps that I posted in this blog. What do you think? Would these filters honestly appeal to men? If the user base is 70% women then it only makes sense to have these geo filters cater to women. At the end of the day, wether your a man or woman, if your enjoying Snapchat, keep on Snapping; filters or not.

Have you ever had that blah feeling, Where you just don’t want to do anything? Well that was me today. That was exactly how I felt. I guess it was because I was really tired. I didn’t want to do any social media at all today. I actually got up this morning telling myself not to do any social media. But needless to say, I did do a little. I went to my Anchor station this morning and put up some content, but I did keep it short and sweet. I did one post on my Instagram and didn’t add anything to my story. I checked out my Facebook for a little while, then it was time to lay back down. I’m telling you, I just wasn’t feeling it today.
I didn’t bother to add anything to my Facebook story or Messenger story. I didn’t post anything new on Convoz or Ense, but I did post to my Snapchat. Some days I just feel burned out. Always trying to figure out a way to build up a following, takes a lot of work. I will admit that I truly was tired. After getting back into my bed it took no time for me to doze off to sleep. Before I knew it – it was 2:53 pm. Almost time for Jiya to come home from school. So I knew I had to get up and make her snack, for when she walked through the door. It feels a little weird when I don’t post on my social media, but it also feels refreshing, like being overdue for a long break.
Sometimes we just have those blah moments or spans. I know it’s not only me. When was the last time you we’re feeling blah? Leave a comment down below.

Hey guys, thanks for hanging out with me today. This weekend I actually thought, that we were going to make it to Six Flags for Fright Fest. Unfortunately it didn’t workout that way, due to the weather. We had lots of rain on Saturday and it didn’t make sense to drive all the way to Six Flags and walk around in the rain while freezing, and not being able to ride anything because it was raining so hard.
I really wanted to go last weekend but things didn’t pan out so well then either. Needless to say this was the last weekend for Fright Fest. So now my only other option is to go on Monday or Tuesday which is Halloween. Now I would love to go on either one of those days, simply because we could skip taking Jiya trick or treating. The reality is, I have to work. I work nights, so that puts a monkey wrench in my plans.
I guess there’s always next year, right? It just sucks because we have season passes and I didn’t want to miss Fright Fest this year. I’ve never been and I’ve always wanted to go. Sometimes things just don’t happen the way you plan. I’m not to sure about Monday or Tuesday but we shall see.
Have you ever been to Fright Fest? Let me know in the comments below.
